Wrestling superstar Macho Man Randy Savage was laid to rest yesterday (25.05.11).

The WWE and WCW star - best known for his neon sunglasses, wildly styled cowboy hats and bright sequinned jackets - died after suffering a heart attack while behind the wheel of his car in Tampa, Florida last week.

He was cremated and his ashes spread at the base of a tree at his home, also in Florida, and in accordance with his last request, his wrestling theme music was not played at the service by his family.

Randy's brother, Lanny Poffo, told TMZ the reason for the omission of the theme song, 'Pomp and Circumstance' was because he felt guilty that it had first been used by his wrestling idol, Gorgeous George, and Randy had eclipsed his success.

I'm completely devastated. He had so much life in his eyes and in his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him.

The wrestling world has been shocked by the death of the star - real name Randy Mario Poffo - at 58, and tributes have poured in.

Hulk Hogan - who faced Randy in the ring on a number of occasions throughout their respective careers - said: "I'm completely devastated. He had so much life in his eyes and in his spirit, I just pray that he's happy and in a better place and we miss him."

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson hailed Randy as one of his "childhood inspirations and heroes".

He tweeted: "RIP Randy 'Macho Man' Savage - you were one of my childhood inspirations and heros. Strength, love and prayers to the Savage/Poffo family. (sic)"

Lanny said family and friends of Randy will meet again to continue mourning and honour the star's memory today (26.05.11).
