Actor Neil Patrick Harris celebrated the the New York Senate?s passing of the Marriage Equality Bill by announcing his own engagement to his partner, David Burtka.
Harris said that he and Burtka had actually been engaged for five years, but had been waiting for the bill to be passed to share their happy news.

The passing of the marriage equality bill created a frenzy on Twitter, with gay and straight celebrities praising the news.
