-9:24: Jim Carrey is wearing a green screen suit. Somehow, it seems normal on this stage. Foo Fighters perform. Wait, is it 1999?
-9:22: Ryan Gosling is absolutely smoldering in a leather jacket and blue science teacher pants. Yes, somehow it totally works. Oh yeah, Emma Stone and Steve Carell are there, too to present best villain. Harry Potter baddie Tom Felton takes the prize.
-9:14: Wow - Elle Fanning is taaaaaaaaall. She's towering over everyone else from Super 8, including grown men J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg. More promo: an exclusive clip for the audience.
-9:13: Best male performance winner goes to Robert Pattinson. No kiss for girlfriend Stewart as he goes up to accept. Booo! "I really didn't think I was going to win. ... Zac Efron was crying and stuff in that little clip."
-9:11: Hottie alert: Friends With Benefits co-stars Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake come out to present best male performance. JT grabs her boobs, she grabs his crotch, all to prove that they have no interest in each other. Convincing.
-9:10: Wow. Schwarzenegger jokes 2, 3 and 4. "Alright, I'm done, I'm done," Sudeikis promises.
-9:09: Emma Stone gives Sudeikis the death stare after his Canadian hooker joke about Easy A. (Easy, eh -- get it?)
-9:08: And now a Maria Shriver joke, which draws groans.
-9:06: And, we already have a an Arnold Schwarzenegger joke. And a 16 and Pregnant joke.
-9:05: The stage has an insane Alice in Wonderland vibe happening. Sudekis calls it "Lady Gaga's bedroom, apparently."
-9:04: Sudeikis is taking a tour through all of the nominated movies: Black Swan, 127 Hours, The Social Network and Twilight.
-9:00: Chelsea Handler starts the show with an F-bomb. Typical. Oh, and she has a martini in hand. Lautner is already being objectified as a "hot little piece of ass." Sweet! Sudeikis is also doing the requisite Hangover spoof with Justin Bartha and Eva Mendes. It had to happen.
-8:54: Emma Watson is making her MTV Movie Awards debut, surprisingly. Why's that? "It's L.A.! I'm like 8 hours away!" the Brit explains. She also says thanks for the Twitter love, Harry Potter fans. "Really appreciate it. "
-8:52: Kristen Stewart just emerged from her limo and she's already doing her awkward cough thing. Uh oh.
-8:49: The Movie Awards red carpet is obviously the place to promote your summer movie. Tom Felton and James Franco's Rise of the Planet of the Apes got a trailer plug. Oh, and so did the Glee! 3D movie. How convenient.
-8:48: No, that's not Nicki Minaj -- it's America's Best Dance Crew judge Lil' Mama in a severely bobbed platinum blonde wig. Wow!
-8:36: Sudeikis seems calm as he goes over final notes backstage. "I'm not that nervous and I prepare by doing spontaneous interviews. Super natural," he jokes with MTV. "I feel like a wrestler, almost, getting ready to go out. I'm gonna get in the mirror -- yell at myself a little bit. With spit in my mouth."
-8:34: The red carpet is crawling with "it" guys and gals: Andrew Garfield (The Social Network); Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (Transformers); Elle Fanning (Super 8); Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit); Romeo (Dancing With the Stars).
-8:25: Tweeting tweens, you'll be happy (or saddened) to know that #teampotter is outpacing #teambieber and #teamtwilight at the moment. Get thee to Twitter if you're a real Twihard!
-8:22: Taylor Lautner chats with MTV from the red carpet about finally joining Facebook. "It's crazy. I've never done Twitter or MySpace or anything before. " Now we're on to some crazy bit with James McAvoy as a crazed personal trainer. Oh, MTV.
-8:17: Sway is back with Sudeikis' Horrible Bosses co-stars Charlie Day and Jason Bateman. They jokingly skewer him. How will he do as host tonight? "Probably not great," Bateman deadpans. "We're just hoping he's not too bad because then we're looking at box office problems."
-8:15: Selena Gomez is on the red carpet sans Justin Bieber. We're digging her billowy top, banded skirt and sky-high nude stilettos.
-8:08 p.m. ET: Sway is chatting with Jim Carrey, who's promoting his next project Mr. Popper's Penguins. No penguins in sight on the red carpet with him. Bummer. Double bummer: America's Best Dance Crew finale has cut back into red carpet coverage.
