Tonys Love Mormon But Snub Daniel Radcliffe

One of the most star-heavy Broadway seasons in recent memory has not resulted in a big-name lineup in nominations for this year's 65th annual Tony Awards, celebrating the best of the bright White Way.

Besides a snubbed Robin Williams in the drama Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Chris Rock in The Motherf----- in the Hat, Jim Belushi in Born Yesterday and Daniel Radcliffe in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying ? though his costar John Larroquette and the show itself were nominated ? also overlooked was the entire cast (as well as the revival itself) of the drama That Championship Season: Brian Cox, Jim Gaffigan, Chris Noth, Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland.

Clearly, the show to beat is the comedic musical The Book of Mormon, from the South Park duo of Matt Stone and Trey Parker. It received 14 nominations, only one nod shy of the record 15 nominations that went to Mel Brooks's 2001 The Producers.

The tuneful, satiric and profane Mormon ? currently the hottest ticket in town ? is in the running for best musical, score, leading actors Josh Gad and Andrew Rannelis, direction, choreography, book, and costumes.

It was followed by the musical revival of Cole Porter's Anything Goes, with nine nods, including leading actress Sutton Foster; How to Succeed, with eight; and Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, starring a nominated Al Pacino, with seven.

Nominated as best musical, besides Mormon, are Catch Me If You Can, The Scottsboro Boys and producer Whoopi Goldberg's Sister Act. Best play nominees are Good People, starring the nominated Frances McDormand, Jerusalem, The Motherf----- in the Hat and the National Theatre of Great Britain-Lincoln Center production, War Horse.

In addition to Pacino and McDormand's, other notable nominations include those for Vanessa Redgrave, in Driving Miss Daisy; Edie Falco, in The House of Blue Leaves; and Ellen Barkin, in The Normal Heart
